Over 400 young entrepreneurs made it to the final of the Fingal Student Enterprise Awards this week. Broadcaster Ruth Scott was there to host a glittering ceremony and to announce this years winners.
The Student Enterprise Programme is an initiative of the Local Enterprise Office Fingal. Head of Enterprise in Fingal Oisín Geoghegan explains “Over 2,600 students from 30 schools across Fingal are taking part in the 2016/2017 Student Enterprise Programme, making it the largest of its kind in the country. The program becomes more popular every year and it’s a wonderful way of getting Fingal’s young population aware of and interested in business and aware of entrepreneurship as a career option.”
This innovative programme gives primary and secondary school students the opportunity to learn about and explore their entrepreneurial skills. It is run in partnership with schools throughout the Fingal region and culminates in a huge regional final that takes place in March.The programme is run by Serena Bryans of About Communications and WhiteLight Consulting are delighted to plan and manage the county final. The National Finals are sponsored by the Dublin and Dún Laoghaire Education and Training Board, The Blanchardstown Centre, One4All, Simtech Aviation and Xtreme.ie.
Winners were announced in different categories including Junior, Intermediate and Senior, Best Display, Innovation, Enterprising School Spirit. The overall winners, Sticks and Stones from Blakestown Community College will go forward to represent Fingal in the National Finals in Croke Park in May.
